Supreme Court to consider cases on union dues refunds

Several petitions argue that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is incorrectly applying a U.S. Supreme Court decision on mandatory union dues.

If an employee joins a union, then wants out because they oppose political campaigns, do they have the right to seek damages for a First Amendment violation of compelled speech even if the union eventually returns their money?
