State attorneys continue to fight to work from home

Some of these disputes stem from a letter Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration sent to heads of state agencies last month. Cabinet Secretary Ann Patterson wrote that all state workers would need to return to the office for at least two days a week beginning on June 17.

Attorneys working for the state said they will continue their fight to keep working from home, despite a recent arbitrator's ruling.

That decision applies only to employees of the California Public Employees' Retirement System, said Tim O'Connor, president of California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment. The union representing attorneys working for the state is usually referred to as CASE.
