Sanctions decision delayed in Chinese firm's case against Orrick

The sanctions issue is part of a broader dispute between the law firm and Global Industrial Investment LTD over enforcement of a $9.3 million arbitration award.

Attorneys for a Chinese investment company, Global Industrial Investment LTD, did not agree to let a pro tem judge rule on their motions for discovery sanctions, totaling more than $62,000, against Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP on Monday in the company's malicious prosecution lawsuit against the firm.

A San Francisco Superior Court judge will now decide later this month whether Orrick, and its outside counsel from Long Levit LLP, should be sanctioned for their alleged...
