Daily Journal: How did you prepare and train to become a neutral?

Cahill: In the 1980s, before being appointed to the bench, the courts were so crowded that it took five years to get to trial. I started using ADR and found the process to be a big benefit to my clients, especially if I could use good mediators. I then was appointed to the bench and heard literally hundreds of settlement conferences and used different techniques until I found methods that worked for me.... (continued)
