Right to Bias-Free Workplace Outweighs 'Friends' Right to Vulgar Speech

Forum Column - By Crissy Sohl - The California Supreme Court heard arguments Feb. 14 in the sexual harassment case of Amaani Lyle v. Warner Bros. Inc., the so-called Friends case. The case is important because a victory for Lyle would demonstrate that the courts understand how discourse in the workplace - in this case the offices of the TV series Friends - can amount to harassment, even when such discourse is aimed at no one in particular.
