Manufacturers of Firearms Must Be Held Accountable
The California Supreme Court, in Merrill v. Navegar Inc ., has insulated from liability a gun manufacturer that sold what the company called an "assault-type pistol," which was "designed to deliver a high volume of firepower" and had "excellent resistance to fingerprints." Government data showed the pistol, Navegar's TEC-9, to be five times more likely than other handguns to be traced to homicides.
