Private Bar Must Do More to Serve Needs of the Indigent

Every day in California, hundreds of attorneys volunteer their time to help indigent clients with their legal needs. The Los Angeles office of Howrey, Simon, Arnold & White, for example, recently settled a case on behalf of 18 families who lived in a slum apartment building within walking distance of the glittering office buildings of downtown Los Angeles, where many of us work.
