Former Carmel Highlands golf course sold for $14.5 million

Max Frank, 33North Development Group principal, said while his firm is a long way from deciding what it wants to build on the property, plans call for some residential development.

A Manhattan Beach developer purchased the former Carmel Highlands Resort Golf Course in Rancho Peñasquitos for $14.5 million.

The 114-acre property is near the junction of Carmel Mountain Road, Peñasquitos Drive and Interstate 15.

The buyer was Carmel Land LLC, a unit of 33North Development Group of Manhattan Beach.
