Public Policy

In Eastern Assoc. Coal Corp. v. United Mine Workers of Amer., District 17, 2000 WL 1740932 (U.S. Sct. 2000), the U.S. Supreme Court, analyzing the standard to be applied for vacating a labor arbitration award on the grounds that it violates public policy, ruled that to vacate an award, it must run contrary to an explicit, well-defined, and dominant public policy ascertainable from federal law or regulations.
