Sex offender registration requirement constitutional, 9th Circuit rules

A convicted rapist lost his bid to have declared unconstitutional a lifetime requirement that he register with the police every 90 days, a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel held Tuesday.

A convicted rapist lost his bid to have declared unconstitutional a lifetime requirement that he register with the police every 90 days, a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel held Tuesday.


But Chief Judge Alex Kozinski wrote for the panel that the plaintiff can still pursue claims of police misconduct against the law enforcement officials he accuses of abuse at the registration sessions.
