Starting salaries remain flat, study says

The National Association for Law Placement found more large firms are paying first-year associates less than the usual average of $160,000.

The median starting salary at large law firms in Los Angeles and San Francisco fell to $145,000 this year, with only 40 percent of LA firms paying the longtime average salary of $160,000, according to a survey released Thursday.


In 2009, 90 percent of large LA firms paid at least $160,000.
