Recently, the Federal Communications Commission unanimously voted to end its nearly 40-year-old sports blackout rule that barred cable and satellite providers from airing games blacked out on local broadcast stations. But it only ends the government's rules. Private contracts between sporting leagues and broadcasters like FOX and CBS have their own blackout rules in place that may still prevent fans from watching local games when tickets remain available.
