On Sept. 18, Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2494, a bill by Assemblyman Ken Cooley (D-Rancho Cordova). AB 2494 combats frivolous and bad faith tactics in the courts. It re-enacts a prior law that had not been in effect the past decade by reviving a section to the Code of Civil Procedure Section 128.5.
