Attorneys worry about changes to SF's mandatory settlement conferences

SAN FRANCISCO - Under a major overhaul of San Francisco County Superior Court's mandatory settlement conference structure, volunteer attorneys rather than judges will conduct the sessions.


While most everyone involved agrees the fix is better than eliminating the program altogether, attorneys and judges alike worry that the conferences will be less effective without a bench officer in charge.
