'Viva La Vida' Lawsuit Lives No Longer in Federal Court

A lawsuit brought by guitarist Joe Satriani against the band Coldplay over musical similarities between his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly" and the British group's 2008 mega-hit "Viva La Vida" has been dismissed.

A lawsuit brought by guitarist Joe Satriani against the band Coldplay over musical similarities between his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly" and the British group's 2008 mega-hit "Viva La Vida" has been dismissed.

Documents filed in Los Angeles federal court show the case, scheduled for trial in May next year, was dismissed with prejudice Monday after the defendants stipulated for a dismissal.
