Jailhouse informant bill proposed in wake of OC scandal

Supporters of AB 359, which would increase reporting requirements and cap compensation for those informants, argue that the bill will ensure proper evaluation and monitoring of their statements. But opponents argue that the bill, authored by Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer, D-Los Angeles, could damage investigations and endanger the informants.
