Counties await new realignment funding formula

Since California counties took over the custody of lower-level offenders in 2011, few have been entirely pleased with the state funds they'd been given to provide services to their burgeoning offender population.

Since California counties took over the custody of lower-level offenders in 2011, few have been entirely pleased with the state funds they'd been given to provide services to their burgeoning offender population. Under certain allocations, counties that previously relied more on rehabilitation programs appeared to be paid less than those that favored putting people behind bars, and vice versa.
