LOS ANGELES - A state court jury Friday awarded $17 million to the mother of a 48-year-old blind man killed when he mistook the gap between Metro Blue Line trains for a door. Brian J. Panish of Panish Shea & Boyle LLP, a lawyer for the plaintiff, Mary Cuthbertson, had asked the jury for a $15 million damages award. His co-counsel was Deborah S. Chang, also of the Panish firm.
