Bill Would Increase Small Claims Limit

Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Friday that increases the small claims court jurisdictional limit from $7,500 to $10,000. Small claims courts are designed to provide a forum for litigants to resolve minor disputes without the representation of a lawyer.
