State Bar Commitee Weighs Proposals

A State Bar committee is poised to weigh shortening the bar exam to two days and eliminating the collection of gender and race data from test takers.

The State Bar seems to have found a way to avoid future lawsuits over access to information on bar exam takers - stop collecting the data altogether.


The Committee of Bar Examiners, a 19-member group that oversees admission to the bar, is poised to vote this week on whether it should stop asking prospective California lawyers for gender, race and ethnicity information.
