Governor Signs Online Tax Bill

Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation Wednesday that will force Amazon and other online companies with marketing affiliates in the state to collect a sales tax.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation Wednesday that will force Amazon and other online companies with marketing affiliates in California to collect a sales tax and pay that money to the state. The bill signed by Brown also incorporated a bill passed by the state Legislature requiring online retailers with corporate subsidiaries and distribution centers to collect a sales tax.
