Court to Hear State Immunity Case

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider whether states are immune from claims for money damages made under a provision of the Family and Medical Leave Act.


The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider whether states are immune from claims for money damages made under a provision of the Family and Medical Leave Act.


The issue arises out of an African-American man's lawsuit against the Maryland Court of Appeals and state officials alleging he was fired because of his race after asking for sick leave. Coleman v. Maryland Court of Appeals, 10-1016.
