Court Rules on Sex-Offender Registration

The U.S. Supreme Court summarily reversed a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision on Monday that had struck down a requirement under the federal sex-offender registration law.


The U.S. Supreme Court summarily reversed a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision on Monday that had struck down a requirement under the federal sex-offender registration law.


In an unsigned opinion, the court ruled the 9th Circuit had no authority to overturn a provision making juveniles register as sex offenders even if they were adjudicated before Congress passed the registry law.
