Court To Hear GPS Tracking Case

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider if law enforcement's use of warrantless GPS tracking devices to surveil suspects violates their constitutional rights.


The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider if law enforcement's use of warrantless GPS tracking devices to surveil suspects violates their constitutional rights.


The court will review a decision by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal for the D.C. Circuit overturning a jury conviction because the continuous monitoring of a defendant via a GPS monitoring device attached to his automobile was unconstitutional. U.S. v. Jones, 10-1259.
