Chula Vista Hit With Suit Over Cell Phone Tax

Coming at a time of cuts in public services and reduced tax coffers, the city of Chula Vista has been hit with a class action alleging its controversial tax on cell phone users violates state law.

Chula Vista has been hit with a proposed class action alleging it lacked the legal authority to levy a controversial tax on its cell phone-using residents. The lawsuit comes at a time when Chula Vista, like most municipalities, is grappling with shrinking coffers.
