SAN FRANCISCO - Philip Morris USA on Thursday bowed out of the war against San Francisco's ban on cigarettes in drug stores, leaving Walgreens to fight alone.
The company had filed one of two lawsuits challenging the ban after the city passed an ordinance in October 2008 that blocked cigarette sales from 60 of the city's pharmacies, mostly Rite Aid and Walgreens stores.
