City council to consider Otay Mesa project

The proposed site of Central Village is a 229.2-acre property south of State Route 905, just north of the international border. Plans call for as many as 4,485 residential units, and as much as 139,700 square feet of commercial, retail and including civic uses.

A specific plan for the proposed Central Village neighborhood in Otay Mesa is scheduled to be considered by San Diego City Council on April 4.

The Central Village project, approved by city council in concept three years ago, still needs the specific plan approved by council members.

Assuming it is approved, individual components of the development will be considered by the Otay Mesa Planning Group, the city's planning commission and city council.
