ACLU sues state, saying English instruction does not meet state, federal mandates

Over 20,000 students in California do not receive the English language teaching in schools that state and federal laws mandate, a lawsuit filed Tuesday by the American Civil Liberties Union charges.

Over 20,000 students in California do not receive the English language teaching in schools that state and federal laws mandate, a lawsuit filed Tuesday by the American Civil Liberties Union charges.


The suit, filed in conjunction with Asian Pacific American Legal Center and Latham & Watkins LLP, demands that students be given access to language instruction.
