State's anti-SLAPP law under 9th Circuit scrutiny
The chief judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals invited an appeal after ruling that a lawsuit by a private for-profit educational institute founded by real estate magnate Donald Trump was a "limited public figure."

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals waded into a dispute Wednesday between a private for-profit educational institute founded by real estate magnate Donald Trump and a disgruntled former student.
In doing so, the appellate court sparked a discussion on whether California's anti-SLAPP, or Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation, statute can be applied to federal litigation.
