SAN FRANCISCO - The Pledge of Allegiance as recited daily by California schoolchildren is constitutional, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel held Thursday, pivoting away from a contrary 2002 decision that ignited a firestorm of hostility toward the court.
