LOS ANGELES - Once upon a time, you could pretty much count on a Los Angeles district attorney to do a great imitation of a sitting duck. Sooner or later, the district attorney would screw up something major, like the O.J. Simpson case, and it would be open season for journalistic sharpshooters. There would be no place to run and no place to hide for the quacking, feathered bull's-eye.
