SAN DIEGO - Instead of coming to the monthly meeting of the San Diego/Tijuana chapter of the Urban Land Institute on Feb. 9 at the University Club in downtown San Diego with prepared remarks on issues important to the group's members, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders spent his time at the microphone asking the audience about their priorities for the city. Meeting attendees were given 140 devices to register their opinions on 20 different questions read by Sanders. When asked the best way for the city to create jobs in San Diego, 44 percent said the city should provide incentives that attract new businesses, 28 percent said the city should increase lending opportunities for small businesses, 21 percent called for streamlining local government processes and 7 percent said the city should keep taxes low.
