New State Legislation Combats Identity Theft
SACRAMENTO - It was a year of mixed results for those fighting the problem of identity theft in California. For instance, a bill that would have phased out the use of Social Security numbers as personal identifiers died in a legislative committee, but another measure was passed that establishes a statewide database to help victims of criminal identity theft clear their names.
