A San Diego law school professor is asking law schools to rethink their training of lawyers who handle capital cases, citing the fact that two-thirds of death penalty convictions nationwide are overturned on appeal - often because of serious errors by incompetent defense lawyers, overzealous police officers or prosecutors who withhold evidence.
