Deal Eases Delta Water Pumping Limits

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said it would modify though June 30 pumping limits it placed on state and federal water agencies that draw from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

Water agencies and environmentalists praised a judge's decision Friday to approve a settlement temporarily easing pumping restrictions on California's largest water source as federal officials try to develop a long-term plan to protect the imperiled delta smelt.
