Expedited Jury Trial Law Makes Slow Inroads

The Expedited Jury Trial Act has resulted in three one-day trials in California since taking effect last month. Most lawyers and judges support the option, but warn the impact could be limited since the process doesn't fit many cases.

Three years after filing a personal injury lawsuit stemming from a 2006 car crash, James Vartanian saw his case decided in approximately 24 hours.


Vartanian, who was rear-ended on his way to a Mötley Crüe concert, sued the other car's driver over injuries sustained in the crash.
