ACLU Says Guards Beat Inmate

A jails monitor with the ACLU of Southern California said she saw guards at the Twin Towers jail in downtown Los Angeles beat an inmate who appeared to be unconscious. The group hopes the incident will help it get a protective order.

An independent jail monitor said she witnessed two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies beat an unconscious inmate, an allegation that might breathe new life into the American Civil Liberties Union's demands for a court order prohibiting deputy retaliation of inmates.
