Cities Get Creative In Cutting Legal Costs

Cash-strapped cities throughout California are seeking ways to trim outside legal costs while bolstering their own expertise in-house.

Three years ago, Riverside city attorney Gregory Priamos decided to move all of its eminent-domain cases in-house. Previously, he farmed that work out to Best, Best & Krieger and McCormick, Kidman & Behrens, LLP. Priamos' decision turned up a savings of $1.5 million for Riverside.
