White House Counsel Declares Cold War

In public remarks Tuesday, Robert F. Bauer said he would work to end partisan gridlock on judicial confirmations despite the "cold war" between Republicans and Democrats.

WASHINGTON - Calling the partisan conflict over judicial nominees "a cold, and not a hot, war," President Barack Obama's chief lawyer pledged Tuesday that the administration would call more attention to the "grave problem" of adding judges to the federal bench.
