AT&T Sued Over Data Charges

AT&T Inc. has been hit with a proposed class action claiming it overcharges iPhone and iPad customers for data usage by overstating web server traffic or, in some cases, billing for usage when a device was shut off entirely.

SAN FRANCISCO - AT&T Inc., already facing product liability litigation involving the iPhone 4 and its predecessor, the iPhone 3G, is now facing claims it overstates the amount of data used by iPhone and iPad customers, allowing it to tack extra charges onto monthly bills.
