Areas Prone to Landslides Can Use Abatement Districts

Wenter - Nearly 30 years ago, a series of landslides in Southern California's Rancho Palos Verdes damaged or destroyed numerous homes and caused millions of dollars in property damage. In the aftermath of the so-called Abalone Cove and Portuguese Bend landslides, legislation was proposed to establish governmental districts that would allow affected homeowners to jointly finance needed abatement measures.
