Judicial branch dealing with ongoing funding cuts

With the $350 million cut from the state Judicial Branch's 2011-12 budget and the $540 million taken this year, many of the funds rerouted to address courts' shortfalls are now gone.

SACRAMENTO - State judicial branch leaders were relieved at the passage of Proposition 30, a tax increase measure without which courts might have faced further cuts to balance the state's budget. But the time for celebrating is over.


As the branch prepares for budget negotiations next year, it still must contend with ongoing cuts made in previous years and the possibility of new funding reductions. ...
