Bar Exam insiders debunk myths about test

Those who write and grade California Bar Exam recognize it is a "high-stakes, professional licensing exam," so they try to make it as fair as possible, said Erica Moeser, president of the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

When Simon A. Budhwani took the California Bar Exam a couple of years ago, he heard all of the terrifying tales: Graders read answers to essay questions on buses, in bars and at Giants games. They tear through answer books and slap on grades in 2 minutes each.

"Everybody hears stories," the young Irvine lawyer said.
