Suits Fail to Stall Research on Stem Cells
USC biologist Martin Pera is waiting on a research grant from the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Anti-abortion groups sued to block the stem cell institute from issuing grants. They argue there is no government oversight of the institute. An Alameda County judge rejected that argument. On Wednesday, a Court of Appeal in San Francisco will hear the case.
