Veterans Groups Sue VA Over Improper Care
One of the lead attorneys in a nationwide lawsuit filed Monday accusing the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs of mistreating returning Iraq War veterans is no stranger to the agency’s bureaucracy. His mother fought for a decade to receive death benefits from the VA in 1990, in what became the first case decided by a newly created appeals court for veterans. Gordon P. Erspamer also sued in 1983 on behalf of "atomic veterans" like his dad. Now, Erspamer is taking on what he called "the veterans’ case of the century."
