What duty do adults owe to teen-agers whom they invite into their homes to supervise and protect them against sexual assault or other harms inflicted by other teen-age invitees during such visits? In a case of first impression, the 4th District Court of Appeal recently addressed this issue in Romero v. Superior Court, 89 Cal.App.4th 1068 (2001).
