After 14 years as a trial judge overseeing some of the most complex cases in Alameda County, Harry R. Sheppard is enjoying frequent travel and less work but also the challenges of mediation and arbitration work. Since his retirement from the bench in June 2009, Sheppard has worked at JAMS in Walnut Creek.


"I like judging," Sheppard said. "I enjoy keeping my hand in it."
