Fewer cases filed in 2010 than 2009, according to report

State courts experienced a decline of roughly two percent, or 2.5 million cases, from 2009-10, according to a new report by the National Center for State Courts.

State courts experienced a decline of roughly 2 percent, or 2.5 million cases, from 2009-10, according to a new report by the National Center for State Courts.


The numbers were driven by a decrease in traffic cases, with some reductions in juvenile and civil cases.


The study also showed California had fewer civil cases per capita than other states.
