Truck driver class action to bring win for meal and rest claims

If an intended decision stands, employees of a truck driving company operating in the Port of Oakland will have won a class action against their employer consistent with last year's Brinker decision.

A tentative ruling by an Alameda County Superior Court judge could further solidify a precedent set last year for how meal and rest breaks apply to workers trafficking interstate goods.

In an intended decision last week, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Robert B. Freedman ruled a class of nearly 75 truck drivers is entitled to damages for unpaid work.
