Large damage awards against Iran are easier to award than collect

Los Angeles litigator James W. Spertus secured a $300 million judgment against Iran last week for the grandson of an assassination victim, but he faces long odds to collect the money.

WASHINGTON - In another enormous judgment against Iran for sponsoring terrorism, Los Angeles litigator James W. Spertus secured a $300 million award last week for the grandson of an Iranian general who was assassinated in 1984.
